Home Projects. . .

After 27 years it's finally time to redo the living room! Time to remove the old popcorn ceiling, track lights, ceiling fan and wallpaper; paint the trim and walls; and re-texture and paint the ceiling. So things haven't gone as fast or as smooth as originally planned. Here are some pictures of the progress so far --

Julie worked on the ceiling and did a wonderful job

Enough Already!

70 days and counting of 100+ degrees this year; my yard sure could use more rain and cooler temperatures. The little rain we had a week ago helped for a couple of days but everything is dried up again.

Glorious Rain!

We finally got some rain and it's cooled off a bit - high 90's instead of 100 plus!

Hail, Hail & More Hail

Back on April 24th Abilene got hit by multiple hail storms, some of the worst that I have ever seen. At the house we didn't get the baseball size hail like some parts of town did but we still had bunches of hail. Here a some pics that I took with my cell phone - not the best quality but you can see some of the aftermath.

The ground was literally white, it looked almost like snow!

That just happened to be a weekend that Roger was on call, and as luck would have it, he had been called into work before the hail hit. That part of town had baseball size hail which means that the El Camino now has BIG hail dents and a cracked windshield.

Of course, things could have been worse and we are thankful for the rain and the fact that we have insurance.

Snow, Snow and More Snow!!

We finally had snow this winter - 6 inches of the white stuff. Now granted that's not as much as some places but for West Texas that is a lot of snow at one time. Last night we had rain, hail, thunderstorms, sleet, ice and snow all in a matter of a few hours.

Here's what greeted us this morning --

Buster and Rags sure had fun playing in the snow but only for a few minutes. Once I went inside they camped out on the back porch waiting (begging) to join me inside. Now if I could just teach them how to wipe their paws so they don't track in mud.

Tonight it is supposed to get down to 6 degrees -- brrrrrr that is too cold for me!

Welcome 2011!!

It's amazing that 2010 is gone and 2011 is here! Roger finally returned to work on October 4th and he is doing pretty good. It was hard going at first, because he had to return to full duty (a decision made by management) but he made it!! Time has flown by these past few months.
